This is the call for nominations for the Mathematical Optimization Society (MOS) elections to be held in Spring 2024 for the following positions:
- Chair
- Treasurer
- Four Council members at-large
The length of service each position is for one or two terms, where one term is the period from the end of one International Symposium to the end of the following International Symposium. The elected Chair serves for two terms, as Chair from one year after the beginning of the first term until one year after the beginning of the second term and as Vice-Chair during the remainder of the two terms. The Treasurer serves for one term of three years, taking office one year after the beginning of the term following his election and serving until one year after the beginning of the next term. Council member at-large serve for one term following their election.
The elections for Chair and Treasurer will be decided by a plurality vote.
There will be a single election for the four at-large Council Members. A form of modified approval voting will be used for this election, in which each voter may cast a single vote each for as many candidates as he wishes, subject to the restriction that not all votes may be for candidates from the same continent of permanent residence. The four candidates receiving the most votes will be elected, subject to the proviso that at most two at-large Council Members may have the same country of permanent residence.
If you think that someone, including yourself, would be a good candidate for one of the aforementioned openings, please send your nomination(s) to the MOS Chair, Miguel Anjos, at
miguel.f.anjos@ed.ac.uk. Candidates must be individual members of the Society (or willing to join the Society before voting begins).
Nominations received by 21 April 2024 will be given full consideration. Nominations received after that date may be considered.
