    Dear colleagues and friends,

Please see the following opportunity for under-represented minority (URM) undergraduate students to attend the INFORMS Annual Meeting. We encourage you to nominate students from your institution!

The INFORMS Minority Issues Forum organizes a workshop to expose promising underrepresented undergraduate minority students to the beauty of Operations Research and Management Sciences (OR/MS). This workshop is sponsored by the National Science Foundation Broadening Participation in Engineering Program. The INFORMS D to contact uEIC Ambassadors program supported the first two editions of this workshop.

We accept nominations and applications from undergraduate underrepresented minority students in STEM pursuing mathematics, computer science, and engineering degrees who could benefit from an immersion in OR/MS to become active participants in the OR/MS community. Students do not need to have prior coursework in OR/MS.

    About the Workshop:

The workshop will introduce undergraduate students to OR/MS opportunities and the INFORMS community. Students will be paired with mentors to discuss academic and industrial career paths in OR/MS, how to take advantage of their annual meeting participation, and how to navigate through the different INFORMS Societies and Fora. We hope workshop participants will consider undergraduate research opportunities in OR/MS and begin participating in OR/MS student competitions at INFORMS. This in-person workshop will occur on October 14th, 2023, the day before the INFORMS Annual Meeting (at the same venue). Students selected to participate will receive complimentary registration to the Annual Meeting and travel support.
