2023 INFORMS TIMES Best Working Paper Award Competition
sponsored by the Mack Institute for Innovation Management, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
Dear colleagues and PhD students,
The Technology, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship Section (TIMES) of INFORMS invites submissions for its 2023 INFORMS TIMES Best Working Paper Award Competition, sponsored by the Mack Institute for Innovation Management, the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The goal of this competition is to promote the most recent advances in technology management, product/process innovation, business model innovation, new product development, and entrepreneurship.
All research methodologies, including (but not limited to) analytical modeling, secondary data analysis and behavioral experiments are welcome.
The award winners will receive a monetary award and be presented with a plaque at the TIMES business meeting, which will take place at the INFORMS annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, Oct. 15-18, 2023.
The following cash prizes will be offered to the award winners:
- First Prize: $800
- Second Prize: $500
Each submission will be judged by a panel of domain experts, based on the novelty and innovativeness of the paper's contribution, rigor, and its potential impact on the theory and practice of technology management, innovation management and entrepreneurship. The 2023 award competition is organized by Steve Yoo (TIMES working paper award committee co-chair, University College London) and Zhaohui (Zoey) Jiang (TIMES working paper award committee co-chair, Carnegie Mellon University).
Eligibility Criteria:
- A submission must be broadly related to the subject of technology management, product/process innovation, business model innovation, new product development or entrepreneurship.
- As of the date of submission the paper must not be accepted or conditionally accepted for publication and must not have won a prize in a previous TIMES Best Working Paper Award competition.
- The format of the submission should follow the manuscript preparation guidelines like that of premier INFORMS journals (see, as examples, Management Science, M&SOM, or Organization Science)
- Submitting author must be a member of the INFORMS TIMES section. (to join, log onto INFORMS, select "+ Request New Journals / Communities, and add TIMES that appear under "Additional Sections")
- An author can serve as the submitting author for only one working paper.
- Four finalists must present in the dedicated award session at the 2023 INFORMS Annual Meeting in the Technology, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship cluster.

After entering author information using the link above, you will be asked to upload:
- A cover page in PDF format with author identifying information including (a) the title of the working paper, (b) the names of all authors, their email addresses and affiliations, and (c) a statement that the submitted paper has not been accepted for publication in an academic journal.
- A blinded PDF copy of the working paper with all Appendices, Tables, Figures, etc. closely adhering to the manuscript preparation guidelines of premier INFORMS journals.
