The University of Michigan Industrial and Operations Engineering (U-M IOE) Department is offering two exciting ways for prospective graduate students to engage with our program. Please encourage your students to apply for our upcoming Future Grad Student Workshop and our Graduate Application Mentoring Program.

U-M IOE Future Grad Student Workshop

Students can apply here for the University of Michigan Industrial and Operations Engineering (U-M IOE) Department's Future Grad Student Workshop

The U-M IOE Future Grad Student Workshop will be in-person at the University of Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023. The deadline to apply is Sept. 10, 2023.

This workshop is aimed at helping students who are interested in graduate school learn about industrial engineering and how to prepare their applications. This workshop is designed for those who are considering pursuing a graduate degree and are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or undocumented/DACAmented.

The applicants selected to participate in the workshop will be notified no later than Monday, Sept. 18, 2023. U-M IOE will cover travel expenses for all selected applicants. If the participant does not live within commuting distance they should plan to arrive on Friday, Oct. 6, and leave on Sunday, Oct. 8; we will arrange and pay for lodging for two nights.

U-M IOE Graduate Application Mentoring Program

The Graduate Application Mentoring Program is a student-run initiative that supports prospective applicants from non-traditional paths or historically disadvantaged backgrounds (described on the website). Prospective applicants are paired with current U-M IOE PhD students who mentor and guide them throughout the application process.
Round one deadline: Oct. 13, 2023
Round two deadline: Nov. 10, 2023

Please note: The PhD students who serve as mentors are volunteers, and make no guarantees that applicants will be accepted into the U-M IOE PhD program or any other academic program. The PhD students are not involved in the admissions process.

Questions about eligibility, deadlines, and type of assistance can be found on the website. If you have any other questions about the Graduate Application Mentoring Program contact um.ioe.gamp@umich.edu.

Please feel free to share these opportunities with anyone who might benefit from attending or be in a position to encourage students in STEM areas to apply.
