Assistant, Associate, Full Professor in Operations Research / Analytics
with application in Healthcare Engineering or Geospatial Intelligence

The Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Missouri invites applications for a tenure-track position in Operations Research / Analytics at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor levels. Applicants should be able to develop a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research program within either the healthcare engineering or geospatial intelligence domains based on analytics, optimization, artificial intelligence, and/or machine learning.
MU is currently making significant investments in two areas. First, in the precision health domain as demonstrated by the opening of the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health Building. Candidates with the ability to contribute to this initiative through medical informatics, computational biology, and/or bioinformatics are especially desired. Second, in the geospatial intelligence domain to support the established Center for Geospatial Intelligence (CGI), the leading U.S. academic research center in this area. Candidates with demonstrated experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, visualization, pattern recognition or remote sensing, and who are eligible for and willing to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance are desired.
Successful applicants will be evaluated on impactful publications, significant potential (or demonstrated ability) for a sustainable and collaborative externally funded research program, demonstrated leadership ability, capable of successfully mentoring graduate students, as well as developing and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
Applicants should have an earned doctorate in industrial engineering, operations research, statistics, data science, computer science, or another closely related field by the time of their appointment; will be evaluated on demonstrated excellent communication skills; and the ability to provide vision, leadership, and guidance. The Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

The IMSE Department was founded in 1958 and has a long history of educational and collaborative research excellence in the areas of healthcare, logistics and manufacturing. The department has a strong PhD program and launched a fully online MSIE degree in 2019.
