    Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics (CATÓLICA-LISBON) invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position for the Operations, Information Systems and Data Science group with a focus on Data Science starting in September 2023. Seasoned Assistant or Associate Professors interested in applying will also be considered in the search at their appropriate level.

    Applicants must have a PhD degree in a quantitative field such as decision sciences, statistics, computer science, information systems, operations research or quantitative marketing. The ideal candidate will have a strong research record (or show potential) and will be using core tools from data science such as information retrieval, search engines, recommender systems, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and econometrics to answer questions relevant to business decision-makers.

    Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated ability to use Machine Learning for research.

    CATÓLICA-LISBON is dedicated to developing the field of data science in its connection and application to industry to tackle business and economics problems, such that successful candidates coming from programs outside business and economics are expected to develop research agendas that bridge to and can address managerial or economic problems.

    Priority consideration will be given to applications received by October 9th, 2022, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

     Position Requirements

    Católica-Lisbon is a research-focused institution and tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain a research program targeted at top-tier journals in their field. Católica-Lisbon provides ample support to do so. Salary is competitive, the school provides funding for research-related activities, including travel to international conferences. Teaching requirements for tenure-track positions are modest and scheduled with the goal of allowing ample research time.

    Candidates must demonstrate the potential to publish in top-tier management journals. For Associate positions, candidates are expected to show a strong research track record in top journals, excellence in teaching, and the ability to add to the research reputation and productivity of the group.  

    Faculty in the group of Operations, Information Systems and Data Science publish regularly in top journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Operations Research, among other top journals in the field.
