The title of this post grabbed my attention and I'll comment on that, but also on the article contents. The title: in the knowledge-rich, skills-rich, and highly technical field I work in (Nuclear Power and other types of power generation) that has serious economic and public safety implications and is tightly regulated, not many people would ever believe the title! That's because the management message is often one of cutting expenses (typically labor) at all costs. It's not that it really happens that way, but that's what the workforce hears. So, whenever any automation technology comes along there is a widespread adverse reaction to adoption and many technologies "die on the vine". AI is being talked about so heavily that the workforce is, once again, cringing and resisting its adoption because of this perception.

Onto the article contents: it's obvious that AI has benefits for task-based work as long as it's repetitive and "automation-ready"; what's not obvious to me is with the more experienced workforce is it all a resistance (that I rambled about) or is it that there are so many experience-based intricacies to the human decision-making in those positions that AI is not ready in its current form? There are a lot of factors to consider besides technology resistance. Ultimately if a workflow can be automated by AI or any other technology then a competitor in a free market economy will figure it out, implement it, reap the rewards (profits), and then that will be the end of that. Otherwise, there are probably other human and/or decision-making factors that make the work complex enough that it requires an expert (human)!

I am not sure if this comment is of any consequence to the topic. I fed a 2x2 table to an AI to calculate an odds ratio. The AI incorrectly calculated this measure of association. The worse part was it authoritatively and incorrectly interpreted the findings and for a while I got confused myself! On the other hand, I noticed it has improved in coding and has been helpful for me when writing R or DAX.

Here is what I think would be an interesting and related question:

How would a human and AI work together to manage risk at banks like at the FDIC or Federal Reserve level? The FDIC concluded that it had a role in the downfall of Silicon Valley Bank and First Republic Bank.

Side comment: Not sure how responsible the FDIC is for banks overleveraging investments in Treasury bonds, but I guess if they say so.
