    2024 Purdue Operations Conference

Daniels School of Business, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN 47907

    August 23 (Friday) – August 25 (Sunday), 2024

The Supply Chain and Operations Management Area of the Daniels School of Business at Purdue University is pleased to announce the incoming 2024 Purdue Operations Conference to be held on in the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University.  We would like to invite doctoral students in Operations Management and Operations Research to join us in this conference.

This is the second annual conference following the success of the first Purdue Operations Conference in September 2023. Thanks to the support from numerous friends and colleagues, we hosted over 100 attendants, including 30 invited students and 30 faculty members coming from more than 30 universities, contributing over 60 high-quality presentations (see the attached conference book).

This conference is motivated by two major trends observed in today's business world. One is the rapid evolution of technologies and how data plays an increasing role in daily operations among a wide and varied range of organizations. The other is the long-term impact of the pandemic in changing many business processes and practices. Both induce noteworthy changes in the practice of operations management, inspiring researchers to rethink our modeling and analysis. Our goal is to bring the leading and young scholars, including senior students, together to share their latest work, learn from one another, and inspire new ideas and research collaborations. Leveraging the diverse faculty expertise in the Supply Chain & Operations Management (SC&OM) area and the generous support from Daniels School of Business, we hope to build an academic platform to foster open discussions among faculty and Ph.D. students who would work jointly to shape the future of operations management through their impactful research.

We will arrange multiple keynote lectures, parallel sessions (with dedicated student sessions to maximize the attention to student presentations), and panel discussions. The topics can be theoretical or methodological research, empirical studies, and case studies.   Student attendees will have opportunities to closely interact with the invited faculty members and fellow PhD students who share similar research interests and career plans.

All doctoral students with strong research interests in Operations Management and Operations Research are invited to apply, especially those in the formative stages of their research agenda. Students are welcome to present their representative research work in student sessions. If you are interested in giving a presentation, please provide the title and abstract as well as your bio information.

There is no fee to register for the conference. We will provide up to three nights' lodging (August 22-25) and all meals, including breakfast, lunch and dinner during the meeting. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation expenses and arrangements. Though we aim to accommodate as many students as possible, to ensure the diversity, we will select one or two students from each institute. Due to the budget and capacity limits, we may require students of the same gender to share rooms (up to two for each double room). To ensure the quality of interactions, we require interested students to submit an application using the attached registration form. Space is limited and acceptance will be based on the strength of submitted support materials.

    Application Guideline

Interested students should complete the attached form and send along with a cover letter including a description of research interests, curriculum vitae, transcript of doctoral studies to date, and letter of nomination from a faculty member. In your submission email, please indicate any food restrictions and accommodation preferences. Applicants will be acknowledged via email. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (lin1800@purdue.edu) or the program and event coordinator, Zhan Pang (zpang@purdue.edu).

Registration materials should be submitted by e-mail by March 31st , 2024 to:
