On May 19-20, Harvard Business School will host the Methodology, Organization, and Management (MOM): Technological Adoption and Human-Algorithm Interaction workshop.

The two-day workshop will bring together leading junior researchers in the data science, statistics, management, social sciences, and decision sciences communities.

This is the third conference hosted by Harvard Business School (see the 2021 program and the 2022 program), with the goal of bringing together leading junior researchers who use a variety of methodological tools in the management, social sciences, data science, and decision sciences communities. We are particularly interested in bringing together qualitative and quantitative researchers whose research is relevant to the conference theme.

Topics research might address include but are not limited to:

    • Integrating new technologies into everyday work activities
    • Measuring the impact of technology adoption (advances in experimental designs and observational studies are particularly pertinent)
    • Incorporating human worker's reactions to AI into AI adoption decisions
    • Creating trust between humans and algorithms

By participating in this workshop, you will meet junior scholars working at the cutting edge of both theory and practice at the intersection of these topics. Our goal is to develop common ground for future discussions and to spur collaborations among researchers in the management, data, and decision sciences.

The workshop will include lightning presentations, panel events, and group discussions. We ask that all attendees present on a research project in a lightning (7 minute) session. We expect approximately 30 junior researchers and several leading senior scholars to be in attendance. Please note that this will be an in-person event and will not have a hybrid option.

This workshop is open to assistant professors. Should you be interested in attending, please apply by March 17, 2023. Please send the following materials to DSCMDS@hbs.edu:

    • Your CV
    • A brief summary of your research and how it relates to the workshop theme

One extended abstract you would like to submit for consideration to present in the workshop-wide presentations
