    INFORMS 2022 Data Mining Best Paper Award Competition

     

    The Data Mining (DM) Society of INFORMS announces the DM Best Paper Competition to recognize excellence among its members. The competition will have two tracks: General Track for the Best Paper Award and Student Track for the Best Student Paper Award. Four finalists will be selected for each track to make oral presentations at the 2022 INFORMS Annual Conference to be held in Indianapolis, IN, Oct. 16-19, 2022.

    The objective of the best paper competition is to recognize excellence among high-quality research works of DM Society members and bring prestige to the DM Society as well as to the recipients. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Large-Scale Data Analytics and Big Data – Data-Driven Decision-Making
    • Visual Analytics
    • Web Analytics / Web Mining
    • Classification, Clustering, and Feature Selection – Text mining
    • Reliability & Maintenance
    • Bayesian Data Analytics
    • Healthcare Analytics
    • Simulation / Optimization in Data Analytics
    • Interpretable Data Mining
    • Longitudinal Data Analysis
    • Causal Mining (Inference)
    • Analytics in Social Media & Finance
    • Anomaly Detection
    • Other Industrial Applications of Data Science

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Award nominee must be a member of the DM Society.
    • For student track, the Award nominee should be a student member of the DM Society by the time of submission and should be the lead author and main contributor of the submitted work. A confirmation letter from the advisor or mentor is required at submission.
    • The submitted paper should be unpublished work.
    • Previous finalists who wish to compete again should submit an entirely different paper.
    • The best paper finalists will be announced before the conference and will present their papers in the DM Best Paper Competition Session at the INFORMS 2022 Annual Conference.
    • Paper considered for this competition MAY NOT be simultaneously submitted to other competitions at the INFORMS 2022 Annual Conference.
    • Required paper format: maximum of 12 pages with 1-inch margins, single column, single-spaced.

    All paper submissions will be evaluated by external referees using double-blind reviewing. Prospective authors should submit a blinded as well as an unblinded version of your paper in PDF format to the INFORMS Data Mining Best Paper Award Competition Co-Chairs with the email subject "LeadAuthorName-Affiliation-DM2022-WhichTrack" prior to the deadline of July 31, 2022, 11:59 PM, Central Time. Late submission will not be accepted. Four finalists for each track will be selected by external review evaluation. The winners of the Best Paper Award and the Best Student Paper Award will be decided upon the review evaluation and the oral presentation at the INFORMS Annual Conference.
