Call for Nominations
Editor-in-Chief, Stochastic Systems
Deadline for Nominations: April 15, 2025
The term of Professor Devavrat Shah as editor-in-chief of the journal Stochastic Systems (SSy) will expire on December 31, 2025. Based on recommendations from the INFORMS Publications Committee, the president of INFORMS has appointed a committee to conduct a full search for a new editor-in-chief (EIC). The committee intends to propose a candidate for approval by INFORMS no later than July 1, 2025.
All members of INFORMS are invited to participate in this process. The committee seeks your opinions and comments on (1) the current state of the journal; (2) recommendations for changes, if any; and (3) candidates for editor-in-chief.
Qualifications for the editor-in-chief of Stochastic Systems include:
- A demonstrated interest in a broad range of topics in the field
- A demonstrated record of excellence in research in the field
- Dedication and enthusiasm for Stochastic Systems
- Previous editorial experience
- Vision of the role of scholarly publications in the electronic and open-access age
- Commitment to the workload involved
- Ability to effectively, efficiently, and equitably manage the editorial process
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with people

The search committee is chaired by Bert Zwart (CWI Amsterdam and TU Eindhoven) and includes as committee members Shane Henderson (Cornell University), Amber Puha (California State University San Marcos), Assaf Zeevi (Columbia University), and committee liaison from the INFORMS Publications Committee, Jamol Pender (Cornell University).
Please submit comments, recommendations, and nominations (including self-nominations) to the committee by April 15, 2025. Any nominations should include a discussion of why the individual is well suited for the EIC position and (to the extent known) the willingness of the proposed candidate to serve as EIC. To preserve anonymity for those who request it, we ask that this information be sent by email with "SSy EIC Search" in the subject line to Matthew Walls (mwalls@informs.org), INFORMS Director of Publications and liaison to the search committee. If anonymity is requested, he will strip any identifying data from the email before passing it onwards to the committee. (If no anonymity request is made, the identity of the sender will be revealed to the committee.)
