    Editor-in-Chief, Mathematics of Operations Research

    Deadline for Nominations: April 1, 2025

    The final term of Professor Katya Scheinberg as editor-in-chief of the flagship INFORMS journal Mathematics of Operations Research will expire on December 31, 2025. Based on recommendations from the INFORMS Publications Committee, the president of INFORMS has appointed a committee to conduct a full search for a new editor-in-chief for a term starting January 1, 2026. The search committee seeks outstanding candidates who reflect the diversity of interests and perspectives of the communities served by INFORMS and Mathematics of Operations Research.

    All members of INFORMS and the broadly defined Mathematics of Operations Research community are invited to participate in this process. The committee seeks your opinions and comments on (1) the current state of the journal; (2) recommendations for change, if any; and, most importantly, (3) candidates for editor-in-chief.

    Qualifications for the editor-in-chief of Mathematics of Operations Research include:

    • A demonstrated record of scholarship in operations research or a closely related field
    • A broad editorial perspective encompassing relevant advances in the mathematical foundation of operations research
    • A deep, long-standing connection to the INFORMS and Mathematics of Operations Research communities
    • A vision and plan for enhancing the reputation and stature of Mathematics of Operations Research in a way that
      • increases the journal's impact, as measured by impact factor, downloads, and other metrics;
      • is inclusive, serving the entire INFORMS community and other related communities; and
      • incorporates the latest advances in the full range of mathematical foundations and application domains in charting potential new directions for work within the journal's scope
    • Significant editorial experience
    • A clear understanding of and a vision for the role of Mathematics of Operations Research in the electronic and open-access age
    • Commitment to engage a diverse editorial board
    • Ability to manage the editorial process fairly, effectively, and efficiently as well as make the time-commitment to do so

Freund (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Rouba Ibrahim (University College London, liaison with the INFORMS Publications Committee), Amin Saberi (Stanford University), Chung-Piaw Teo (National University of Singapore), and Rakesh Vohra (University of Pennsylvania, chair).
