    Assistant Professor - Operations Management and Statistics

    Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto

     

    The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for one full-time tenure-stream appointment in Operations Management & Statistics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and commence on July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.

    Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Operations Management, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related discipline, by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and deepen our existing strengths. We seek individuals with demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Applicants must engage in research in the area of data analytics. Applicants must have a strong theoretical and methodological background in data analytics as well as the demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to important questions and issues in management. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach in the Master of Management Analytics program and have a demonstrated mastery of their subject area and of analytics.

     

    The Rotman School of Management has a strong research-oriented faculty that is supportive of serious scholarship and is committed to the professional development of its faculty. The Operations Management and Statistics area provides a stimulating and supportive research environment and a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. The recently-formed TD Management Data and Analytics Lab promotes cutting-edge analytic tools in business through teaching and research, and will be a central source of knowledge and expertise in data science, AI, and machine learning applications.

     

    The successful candidate is expected to pursue independent, innovative research at the highest international level, to establish an outstanding and competitive research program, and to establish and sustain a publication record of impactful articles in internationally recognized top-tier academic journals in relevant fields. For this position, excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the job-market paper and additional research papers or publications submitted with the application, a research statement, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. We seek individuals that have published in, or have works in progress meeting the standards of Management ScienceOperations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and/or journals of similar caliber and international standing. Further evidence of research excellence is provided by indication of participation in top conferences and research presentations at other highly ranked schools, as well as research awards and accolades.

     

    The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellence in teaching and must have a demonstrated interest in graduate-student training and supervision. Excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through the statement of teaching philosophy, teaching accomplishments, and teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities (such as performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, the experience of leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference posters or presentations), as well as strong letters of recommendation, and strong performance during the on-campus presentation for short-listed candidates.

     

    Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
