    The Department of Information Systems at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking candidates for a faculty position at the rank of assistant professor described below. The position is open until filled, so applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

    The Department of Information Systems within the VCU School of Business is hiring for a tenure-eligible assistant professor position that will support both the teaching and research mission of the department. 

    Responsibilities include teaching courses in information systems at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. The applicant must conduct scholarly research where the output of such research is published in high-caliber peer-reviewed journals, advise students, and provide service to the department, school, university, and academic community. Preferred areas of expertise are the following: information security, data science, and healthcare information systems. Other specialty areas related to information technology may be considered.

    Applicants must have an established research agenda and should be committed to scholarly research and teaching of the highest quality. Applicants are expected to establish a nationally recognized research program. External funding of research projects is encouraged.

    Required Qualifications: 
    - Applicants must have an earned doctorate degree in information systems or closely related discipline.  ABD candidates are expected to successfully defend their dissertation by the official start date.
    - Applicants must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. 

    Preferred Qualifications: 
    An established research agenda, clear potential for external funding, and potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the department.
