Dear Members of the QSR Community

We have received over 30 submitted papers this year. Through a careful evaluation by the paper reviewers and this committee, the following four finalists (alphabetically ordered) have been selected. Students' names are in bold letters.

    • Ensemble Active Learning by Contextual Bandits for AI Training in Manufacturing,
by Yingyan Zeng, Xiaoyu Chen, Ran Jin. Virginia Tech.

    • Tensor-based Temporal Control for Partially Observed High-dimensional Streaming Data,
by Zihan Zhang, Shandong Mou, Kamran Paynabar, Jianjun Shi. Georgia Tech.

    • A Supervised Tensor Dimension Reduction-Based Prognostic Model for Applications with Incomplete Imaging Data,
by Chengyu Zhou and Xiaolei Fang. North Carolina State University.

    • Design and Analysis of Finite Element Simulations,
by Henry Shaowu Yuchi, V. Roshan Joseph, C. F. Jeff Wu. Georgia Tech.

Most of the submitted papers are of high quality. Inevitably, some good and original works didn't enter the final round. We emphasized the novelty and quality of the papers first, but also considered the diversity of areas and applications of the works. So the finalists are the results of a balanced consideration of many factors. Necessary measures have been taken to avoid conflict of interests. We also want to thank all the reviewers for their contributions.

The final round of competition will be held in Session SB57 on Oct 16 Sunday from 11 am to 12:15 pm. We hope many QSR and INFORMS members can attend this session and support these student members. See you soon in Indianapolis.
