     Position Description

    The Department of Management at Clemson University invites qualified applicants for a tenure-track, full-time faculty position in Supply Chain and Operations Management (SC/OM) starting August 15, 2019. We are particularly seeking candidates with established high quality research and effective teaching for appointment at the assistant or associate professor level. The ideal candidate would demonstrate a strong commitment to publishing innovative research that will influence the field and who can also interact effectively with peers in enhancing the intellectual climate of the Department. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, and be able to teach at a level consistent with Clemson's high standards.

    Clemson's Supply Chain Group has a core group of scholars with an engaging assembly of doctoral students. The SCM Faculty and Ph.D. students have been among the most prolific in terms of publications in top journals. The Department of Management has 35 faculty members, and offers a B.S. degree in management with six areas of emphasis, a M.S. degree in management, and a Ph.D. degree in management.     Clemson University is a highly selective public land-grant university located in a college town setting in the dynamic Southeastern corridor, which has been designated as a major region for trade and logistics. Against a beautiful backdrop of lakes and mountains, faculty can enjoy the benefits of Clemson -- a small college town of over 15,000 residents and 19,000 students and also of Greenville, South Carolina– a thriving mid-sized community – which is a 30 minute commute. Clemson is about a 2 hour drive from Atlanta, Georgia or Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Qualifications

    Candidates seeking appointment must have an earned Ph.D. Specific interests in teaching include operations and supply chain management. Consistent with Clemson University's objective of joining the ranks of Top 20 public universities, qualified candidates must have a record of publishing boundary spanning research in SC/OM journals, such as POM, MSOM, Management Science, JOM, and Decision Sciences. We welcome candidates with rigorous training in empirical methods (including econometrics and behavioral methods) and/or analytical modelling and who are open to multidisciplinary and multi-method research. Candidates with research expertise in one of the following areas are highly desired: new product development/innovation, health care, sustainability/socially responsible/humanitarian operations or supply chain contracting and risk management. Junior applicants should have completed their doctoral degree no later than July 30, 2019.
