The Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University is now accepting applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position in operations research and analytics (https://apply.interfolio.com/104644). The position will investigate the role of data and information in decision making, for the design and operation of equitable and robust systems. Potential research directions include robust / stochastic optimization & learning, with applications in supply chain resilience and transportation equity.
Research at Heinz College (https://www.heinz.cmu.edu/) is driven by a strong passion to understand and improve our society – in areas such as mobility, statistical fairness, privacy, healthcare management, and the future of work. Successful candidates will join this active group of colleagues with expertise spanning operations research, statistics, information systems, and economics.
Candidates should have completed PhD (by Fall 2022) in operations research, industrial engineering, management science, or computer science, broadly defined. Successful candidates should have strong preparation in optimization and / or machine learning. They will report primarily to Prof. Peter Zhang, and be encouraged to publish in top-tier journals and conferences. They are welcome (not required) to collaborate both within Heinz and across Carnegie Mellon University, including the Tepper School of Business, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the School of Computer Science. They will receive regular mentorship through the lifecycle of research projects, and be encouraged to disseminate research findings in major conferences and university seminars. The appointment is for one year with the potential to renew, contingent on performance and funding availability.
