As part of INFORMS ongoing advocacy initiative, I wanted to share with you information we received this week from the U.S
Department of Transportation (DOT).
DOT has issued a
request for information (RFI) intended to inform DOT on the current status of industry sources, business practices, technical capacity, and operational capability related to data integration, data analysis, and data visualization that could be leveraged to further DOT's capabilities to use safety-related data to better inform policy and decision making for surface transportation safety.

DOT is seeking responses on the RFI by December 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm Eastern time.
DOT is also hosting a RFI Webinar for potential respondents on Thursday, November 15, 2:00-4:00 pm Eastern time.
