The INFORMS Minority Issues Forum is organizing a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Ambassadors project to expose underrepresented undergraduate minority students to Operations Research and Management Sciences (OR/MS). We are currently accepting nominations and applications from undergraduate minority students pursuing degrees in mathematics, computer science, and engineering, who are interested in attending the INFORMS Annual Meeting.

    About INFORMS:

INFORMS is the most prominent professional and academic society for the advancement of OR/MS. Operations Research and Management Sciences "are proven scientific, mathematical processes that enable organizations to turn complex challenges into substantial opportunities by transforming data into information, and information into insights that save lives, save money and solve problems." The INFORMS annual meeting is the premier conference for analytics professionals and academics, and is a great opportunity to connect with the INFORMS network of over 5,000 members. You can find more information at https://www.informs.org/

    About the Workshop:

The MIF Undergraduate Students Workshop will introduce students to OR/MS. This will be a virtual workshop taking place the week before the INFORMS annual meeting (October 12th and 14th), preparing students to make the most of what the event has to offer.

Students selected will receive complimentary registration to participate virtually in the INFORMS Annual Meeting, and will be offered the opportunity to be paired with mentors to discuss academic and industrial career opportunities in OR/MS. There will also be a limited number of travel awards to support students that wish to attend the conference in person.

We encourage you to please nominate underrepresented minority students in your institution that can take advantage of this opportunity.

Applications must be submitted online and include the following materials:

    • Application form: Students are asked to complete a short essay explaining their interest in the workshop and INFORMS.
    • Nomination letter: A brief letter from a faculty member familiar with the applicant that can elaborate of their potential to benefit from attending the workshop and the conference.
