Assistant Professor in Optimization

The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in optimization, to start August 2019. The minimum qualification is a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or a related field. The successful candidate should have research and teaching interests in optimization, demonstrated potential for excellence in research, and a strong commitment to quality teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated potential for attracting external research funding. Women and underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong independent research program, supervise graduate and undergraduate student research, teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level, and provide service to the department, university and the profession. The regular teaching load is 2 courses per semester, which may be reduced for an initial period.
