As part of the INFORMS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassadors Program, Dr. Kayse Lee Maass (Northeastern University) and Dr. Kezban Yagci Sokat (San Jose State University) are hiring a remote, hourly research assistant for the project titled "Creating an Accessible ORMS Community for Disabled People."
The objective of this project is to create a more accessible and inclusive operations research and management sciences (ORMS) community for disabled people by identifying the current barriers to accessibility and developing an action plan for INFORMS communities to remove those barriers. This will be done in part through surveys and focus groups to better understand how many INFORMS members are disabled, the barriers they face when participating in INFORMS events, and how INFORMS can better accommodate their needs. We will focus on an intersectional approach that acknowledges there are many different types of disabilities and many other identities disabled people simultaneously hold, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, low income, first generation, undocumented, and other historically marginalized identities.
All responsibilities will be able to be completed remotely. Acknowledging the importance of flexible work schedules, many of the job responsibilities can be completed on a flexible schedule whenever works best for the Research Assistant; however, there are some full team meetings and meetings with study participants that will be scheduled for specific times.
