Join us for a 'social-distancing' approved virtual celebration of the winners of the 2020 INFORMS O.R. & Analytics Student Team Competition
On Wednesday, April 29, join us as we recognize student teams from around the world who are competing in the 2020 O.R. & Analytics Student Team Competition and announce the winning team! This marks the fourth year this INFORMS competition has challenged undergraduate and master's level students to tackle real-world workplace challenges – the kind that they will face during their professional careers.
The challenge and funding for this year's student teams was provide by Title Sponsor Bayer. Bayer challenged students to design a distribution network that involves determining product flows in the presence of resource capacity constraints at manufacturing facilities. Using realistic data provided by Bayer, students performed statistical analyses, developed simulation models and/or machine learning, designed the distribution network using optimization, and conducted a quantitative assessment of their solution.
Traditionally, the competition takes place at the INFORMS Business Analytics Conference, where the students travel from across the globe to present their solutions to a panel of judges, with the winning team recognized during a special ceremony.
This year's students will present their projects for judging online, prior to the virtual ceremony. Let's show our support for the next generation of OR/MS and analytics professionals by celebrating their accomplishments at the virtual awards ceremony!
