    The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, the first industrial engineering department founded in the world, is pleased to announce a search for an outstanding tenure-track hire with a start date of fall 2022. The expected rank is assistant professor, but applicants with outstanding records of accomplishments will be considered at the rank of associate or full professor. Duties for the successful candidate will include developing an independent and externally funded research program; advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students; teaching undergraduate and graduate courses; providing service to the profession; and supporting the mission of the Department, College, and University. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field by the expected start date and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

     

    Candidates whose research is in any area of industrial engineering, including operations research, service systems, human factors, statistics/data science/machine learning, and manufacturing, will be considered. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can demonstrate that their research is innovative and has the potential to have a significant theoretical or practical impact. The Department is also especially interested in candidates whose background and/or research promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
