    Tenure Track Faculty Position in

    Operations & Technology Management (OTM)

    The Robert Pamplin Jr. School of Business Administration (PSOBA) at the University of Portland invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level to join our Operations & Technology Management (OTM) discipline group.  The OTM group currently offers the fastest growing undergraduate program at the PSOBA, a Master of Science program in OTM and an online Business Analytics certificate online. The OTM group seeks a dynamic colleague with a background in Operations Management to join our team. Employment for the successful candidate will begin in Fall 2019 pending budget approval.

    The OTM faculty offer undergraduate and MS/MBA courses in Operations Management and Information Systems. OTM faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, serve the university and local communities, and maintain a research program leading to publication in leading academic and practitioner journals. OTM faculty have been very successful in building relationships with the local business community leading to teaching, research and consulting opportunities, and view this as an important part of our mission and success.

    The successful applicant will have completed, or be close to completing, a doctorate in areas related to Operations management, Management Science, Operations research, or Information systems by the date of the appointment. Candidates from a related field may apply, but in such case, preference will be given to those applicants with business related research interests involving operations management or information systems.

    Candidates must meet our immediate teaching needs in at least one of the following areas: Supply Chain Management, Foundations of Operations Management, Project Management, Decision Modeling, Business Analytics, and Quality Management.  Candidates must also demonstrate business and technical knowledge and the ability to teach effectively in one or more of the following additional subject areas:  business process analysis and management, inventory and supply chain management, production operations and scheduling, logistics, optimization, service operations management, simulation, healthcare operations, introduction to OTM, systems analysis and design, and database management and data warehousing. Strong preference will be shown to candidates with an ability to teach in multiple areas.

    • Letter of interest discussing teaching and research philosophies
    • Curriculum vitae
    • One or two research papers
    • Evidence of teaching effectiveness
    • Contact information for at least three references.

    Salary is competitive and employment will begin with the Fall semester of 2019. A background investigation check is required before final hiring procedures can be completed.
