    The Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods at McCoy College of Business, Texas State University, is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position beginning Fall 2020.     Position Description:
    The Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods (CIS&QM) at Texas State University (http://www.cis.txstate.edu/) seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor or associate professor position beginning fall 2020 to teach undergraduate and graduate Computer Information Systems courses with emphasis in business intelligence systems, machine learning, cloud computing, software development, and technology aspects of data analytics. Additional job duties include conducting research that results in peer–reviewed publications in high quality academic journals, and serving at the department, college, university, and professional levels. Faculty are required to teach courses at the San Marcos campus and the Round Rock campus located north of Austin.

    Required Qualifications:
    Candidates applying for the assistant professor rank must have received a Ph.D. in management information systems, information systems, computer science, data analytics or data science. ABD candidates are expected to successfully defend their dissertation by the date of hire.

    Candidates applying for the associate professor rank must have received a Ph.D. in management information systems, information systems, computer science, data analytics or data science. In addition, candidates must be able to show they have both a sustained record of publications in high quality academic journals and a demonstrated record of teaching and service accomplishments. To be eligible for hire at the associate professor rank, candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the University and the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on standards established by the University and department.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    In addition to the required qualifications listed above, candidates with the following qualifications are preferred:
    • Ph.D. from either AACSB accredited Colleges of Business or other well-known doctoral-granting institutions with a major in management information systems or information systems;
    • Previous teaching, research, or professional experience in the areas of business intelligence systems, machine learning, software development, cloud computing, cloud security, and machine learning frameworks;
    • Evidence of effective teaching;
    • Experience in one or more of the following applications: Spark, Scala, HANA, CLEA; Hadoop, TensorFlow, or similar machine learning framework, and
    • Proficiency in Python and Java.
