Practical Optimization: a Gentle Introduction useful as a supplement for your course. The chapters, algorithm animations, and calculators were developed over 30 years of teaching introductory optimization to undergraduates and graduate students. The emphasis is on developing a genuine intuitive understanding of the algorithms and methods. Sample assignment questions and answers are also included. The material is being slowly updated and extended as time permits: suggestions welcome.
