NSF Summer Research Opportunity for Undergraduate Students

    Dear colleagues,

We are looking for two undergraduate students to join our research team this summer working on an NSF-funded project, related to machine learning (ML) and stochastic programming (SP). The students are expected to have a major in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or in a related area. We seek candidates with strong programming skills, and knowledge in ML and/or SP is a plus. Each undergraduate researcher is expected to work 40 hours per week for a roughly 12-week period during the summer term for a total stipend of $6,600. The work can start as early as June 1, 2020.  We also have funding to support students to travel to conferences for presenting their research findings.

The research group is based on Texas State University (San Macros, TX). But due to the COVID-19, research will be conducted remotely, and we will provide virtual mentorship experiences. Please note that as required by NSF, candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents.

Please feel free to circulate this opportunity. If you have any question, please contact Dr. Zhijie (Sasha) Dong at sasha.dong@txstate.edu. Students who are interested can send their resumes to Dr. Dong with the email subject "NSF REU application".

    Best regards,

    Sasha Dong
