There is a fully funded PhD position available to work on appointment scheduling in healthcare, combining scheduling algorithms with data analytics to tackle the problem of patients not showing up. Patients who miss their appointments, referred to as "no-shows" or "did-not-attend" (DNA), have detrimental effect on healthcare delivery performance. They waste valuable scarce resources, thus affecting the efficiency of the healthcare provider. This is even more important in the current Covid19 pandemic with a higher number of patients in the waiting lists, and potentially reduced number of available healthcare staff.

The PhD student will be part of the Midlands Graduate School, based at Nottingham University, and supervised by Prof. Sanja Petrovic (Nottingham) and Prof. Juergen Branke (Warwick). The project, in collaboration with University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, will start in October 2022 with a duration of 4 years.
