The deadline for nominations for Military and Security Society Awards is July 1, 2019! Please see details for the three awards below, and contact the award's chair if you would like to submit a nomination. Thanks!

    Koopman Award
Please consider nominating a paper that was published in 2018 for the Koopman Award.  This is a $500 award for the best published paper or report on military and security operations research topics directly related to the goals of MAS.

Papers can be nominated by any member. Authors may submit their own paper. The work must include complete citations or documentation so that it is clear that it was published during 2018.

Submit your nominations Andy Hall, Andrew.Hall@westpoint.edu or call 845-667-7135.

    MAS Bonder Scholarship

The purpose of the Bonder Scholarship for Applied Operations Research in Military and Security Applications is to promote the development and application of process modeling and operations research (OR) analyses to defense-related applications, including military and national security issues. The scholarship provides funding of $5,000 ($US) to support the development of highly qualified individuals and promote the interchange of military and national security OR research knowledge in conjunction with INFORMS.

The Bonder Scholarship consists of a grant of $4,000 ($US) that is intended to provide financial support for a promising new researcher. In addition, the award winner will be eligible for up to $1,000 ($US) of travel funding to support their participation in Military and Security Society activities at the annual INFORMS conference. An additional $2,000 ($US) grant is provided and funded by the Seth Bonder Foundation.  INFORMS will waive registration fees for awardees. The tenure of the award is one year.

Students pursuing doctoral studies in military and/or national security OR or a related discipline are eligible, particularly those with two to three years remaining in their programs. Applicants must be paid up members of INFORMS. Applications from US and international students are welcome.

Submit applications and letters of support in PDF format to Nathan Bastian, nathaniel.bastian@fulbrightmail.org.

    J. Steinhardt Prize

The J. Steinhardt Prize is sponsored by the Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) and is awarded for outstanding contributions to Military Operations Research. The award recognizes a distinguished career of operations research, rather than any particular contribution. The selection Committee is composed of previous award winners. The award is accompanied by a plaque and a $2,000 honorarium.

Submission packets should include a letter of justification and supporting documentation and evidence.

Submit nominations to Andy Hall, Andrew.Hall@westpoint.edu or call 845-667-7135.
