    The INSEAD Technology and Operations Management (TOM) area invites applications for post doctoral research fellow and research associate positions in the Humanitarian Research Group (HRG) and Sustainable Operations Initiative (SOI) - led by Atalay Atasu and Luk Van Wassenhove.

    Description

    These postdoctoral and research associate positions at INSEAD provide a unique opportunity to work with a team of passionate experts at one of the most renowned business schools in the world, to start a career in the humanitarian sector and/or sustainability, and/or to pursue a career in academics or consulting. As post doctoral research fellow, you supervise projects with external stakeholders and lead research projects with senior faculty. As research associate, you lead projects with external stakeholders and have the opportunity to participate in research projects with senior faculty.

    Requirements

    Candidates for a post doctoral research fellow position should ideally have a PhD in operations research, operations management, supply chain management, or related field. For research associates a graduate degree in these fields is preferred, as well as relevant working experience (e.g., related to humanitarian organizations and/or sustainability). All candidates should fit the following profile:

    • Fluency in written and oral English
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Knowledge of empirical research techniques is a plus
    • Ability to work independently and in small teams
    • Excellent work ethic
    • Excellent organizational and oral/written communication skills

    About us

    INSEAD's Humanitarian Research Group (HRG) promotes the science of development and relief operations through impactful practice-based research in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The group is positioned within the INSEAD Technology and Operations Management (TOM) area.  HRG's wider research team includes numerous PhD students and faculty. Projects include research on health supply chains and usage of new technology, commodity supply chains, and funding in humanitarian operations. The group works closely with organizations like the World Food Program, UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières, Fleet Forum, Marie Stopes International, J&J, and many research groups around the world.

    The INSEAD Sustainable Operations Initiative (SOI) focuses on research on sustainable operations in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The initiative is positioned within the INSEAD Technology and Operations Management (TOM) area. SOI's wider research team includes numerous PhD students and faculty. Projects include research on closed loop supply chains, commodity supply chains, and the link between renewable energy and circularity in reaching climate positive solutions. The initiative has a broad network of relations with external parties (companies, non-governmental organizations, and EU policy makers).
