Lecturer – Cornerstone and Capstone Design

    Background

The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is the largest producer of industrial engineers in the United States. Almost 2,000 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the most recent academic year, more than 350 undergraduate degrees were awarded. Both ISyE's undergraduate and graduate programs have maintained a number one ranking from U.S. News & World Report for the past 25 and 29 years, respectively.

ISyE is seeking to increase its project-based and design experiences for undergraduate students. Current ISyE design courses include ISYE 3803 Cornerstone Design and ISYE 4106 Capstone Design (i.e., Senior Design). There are also multi-disciplinary capstone design paths through the course GT 4823 Interdisciplinary Capstone Design and the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) program. Currently, only the Capstone Design course is required. However, the School intends to scale up ISYE 3803 and encourage and increase the participation of ISyE students in multi-disciplinary capstone projects with students from other majors at Georgia Tech.

    Position:
The H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology is recruiting a non-tenure track full-time Lecturer to support the School's effort in delivering and enhancing the Cornerstone and Capstone design programs, support the participation of ISyE students in multi-disciplinary Capstone design projects, and assist with corporate fundraising in support of Capstone design. This Lecturer will be an instructor for the junior-level cornerstone design course ISYE 3803, which will also include coordinating the associated ISyE Advisory Board mentorship program. The Lecturer may also serve as faculty advisor to some Capstone Design projects, and in the process will leverage the database of Capstone Design projects to assist in developing case studies that will be used in the Cornerstone Design course.
The successful candidate must have at least a Master's Degree plus industry experience in Industrial & Systems Engineering or a related field. Also required are excellent interpersonal, organization and planning skills, and effective oral and written communications with excellent presentation, team-building and coaching skills. The ideal candidate will stay abreast of new trends in education research, with emphasis on project-based teaching.
This is a nine-month faculty position, subject to annual reappointment review. Summer compensation may be available for teaching, approved ISyE-funded program development, and/or sponsored program development.
Please upload the following materials to https://forms.isye.gatech.edu/lecturer-cornerstone-capstone-design, Letter of Application and Current Curriculum Vitae. College transcripts will be required of the final candidate.
Inquiries should be directed to the Director of Professional Practice, Dr. Dima Nazzal (dima.nazzal@isye.gatech.edu).
