    Applications are invited for multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering (IMSE) within the Whitacre College of Engineering (COE), Texas Tech University (TTU), Lubbock, TX. Exceptional candidates may also be considered for the E. L. Derr Endowed Professorship.  Founded in 1934, the department is one of the first IMSE departments in the nation and the first in the state of Texas. The department has a distinguished history of outstanding scholarship, with recent funding from NSF, DOE, ONR, DOD and NIH, as well as offering excellent, personalized educational opportunities.  The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering has numerous laboratory facilities, including manufacturing, materials characterization, biomedical systems modeling, and ergonomics.     TTU is a comprehensive Tier I research university that includes law and medical schools with an enrollment of more than 35,000 students total.  The Whitacre COE consists of the Departments of Chemical; Civil, Environmental and Construction; Electrical & Computer; Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems; Mechanical; and Petroleum Engineering and Computer Science. There is a vibrant and energetic research atmosphere with interdisciplinary research within the Whitacre COE, with other Colleges within the University, and with the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.

     

    Successful candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field, be eligible to work in the United States, and have excellent communication skills.  Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to conduct high quality, methodologically innovative research, documented scholarship, generate funding, teach undergraduate and graduate courses (including distance education), advise PhD students, and provide appropriate service to the department, university and the profession.  While the department is seeking applicants in all areas of IMSE, priority will be given to applicants working in operations research and large scale data analysis with an interest in supporting the Whitacre COE research thrust areas of Energy, Water, Infrastructure, Engineers in Medicine, Nanotechnology and Big Data.
