Evidence about M&SOM as a top journal in OM

    Dear Colleagues -

The question about whether the journal (Manufacturing & Service Operations Management) is a top journal or not has never been raised among top schools in the US since its inception in 1999.   However, I have constantly received emails from other schools around the world regarding the stature of M&SOM.  I have done this over 30 times -- one email at a time, but I realized this is not efficient because I am the only person to correspond to all these requests.  So, I apologize for this posting.

Overall, I see this is a positive sign because, as a journal that is 20 years young, many schools outside the US are now beginning to recognize the visibility of M&SOM after it was listed on FT top 50 list in 2017.

Instead of responding to one email at a time, I would like to share the following materials with you:

    1. M&SOM is on par with Marketing Science (our sister top journal in Marketing) -- in terms of submissions rate, acceptance rate, impact factor, FT listing, UTD listing, etc.  Please see: https://www.informs.org/Blogs/M-SOM-Blogs/From-M-SOM-Journal-Editor

     2. M&SOM editorial board members are world renowned OM scholars affiliated with top universities around the world.  Please see: https://pubsonline.informs.org/page/msom/editorial-board

    3. M&SOM is endorsed by top school professors.   I have the good fortune to have my friends in Australia and New Zealand to prepare some promotion materials to argue why M&SOM (a 20-year old journal) should be recognized as a top journal in Australia and New Zealand.  With their unceasing effort, the Australian/NZ review board has proposed the M&SOM journal to be listed as a 4* journal in Australia/NZ.  I am blessed to have their support.  Please see the attached file for various benchmarking analysis, and endorsement from  MIT, Stanford, and UPenn.  (I have also endorsement letters from the Deans of Cambridge U and Oxford U as well. I am blessed to have friends in the UK for their support.)   <File too big -- cannot upload -- sorry.>

Whether your school is willing to recognize M&SOM or not, I have to leave to the higher order to decide.  If you have suggestions for me to be more effective to push for the change, I am happy to learn of your advice!

Thank you -- at the Seattle airport waiting for my flight..............
