The Auburn University Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of occupational safety and ergonomics/human factors with an anticipated start date of January or August 2022. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, (i) artificial intelligence for systems safety and/or ergonomics (e.g. biomechanical exposure assessment) applications; (ii) cognitive systems engineering of cyber-physical systems; and (iii) autonomous mobile robotics and/or guided vehicle safety.
A successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong extramurally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentor students as a member of the Center for Occupational Safety, Ergonomics, and Injury Prevention (COSEIP) at Auburn University. The faculty member will also participate in outreach and provide service to the department, college, and university. The candidate will develop programs that are respectful and affirming of all forms of diversity, including gender, religion, sexuality, disability, age, socioeconomic status, veteran status, ethnicity, race, and culture that will serve as a resource and benefit to students of the ISE Department. Eligible candidates must hold an earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline at the time of appointment. The ideal candidate will be certified as a safety professional or in the process of becoming certified. Our student population has grown over 230% in the last ten years and we have hired ten new faculty members in that period.
