    The Chair of Mathematics for Business and Economics finds mathematical solutions to problems in business and economics. A special emphasis lies on the modelling and optimization of stochastic dynamic systems, particularly via Markov decision processes and their approximations. The main applications of our research are in the fields of revenue management, healthcare and production planning. We teach introductory and advanced classes in mathematics and optimization for students in business administration, economics and computer science across a broad spectrum of topics.

    Your responsibilities
    • Development of the course materials for two introductory classes to Operations Research at the Bachelor level
    • Giving the lectures and practice sessions (one class and one practice session each semester)
    • Supervision of students
    • Development, administration and grading of the final exam
    • Maintenance of course websites


    Your profile / Qualifications
    • A PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics or in Business Administration with a strong quantitative alignment
    • Very good knowledge in the field of Operations Research
    • Very good command of English (oral and written)
    • A keen interest in developing high-quality teaching
    • Very good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills  Self-reliance, integrity, and creativity
    • Preferably: Experience in teaching
