The Chair of Mathematics for Business and Economics at the University of Zurich (Switzerland) is looking for
Research Associate (Postdoc, 80% employed)
starting January 1st 2021 or by arrangement.
The Chair of Mathematics for Business and Economics focuses on the mathematical solution of business problems. We model and optimize stochastic dynamic systems, in particular via Markov decision processes and approximate dynamic programming. Our main applications include revenue and health care management. We teach mathematics and optimization at the Bachelor and Master level.

Responsibilities
- Developing, managing and publishing research projects within the field of approximate dynamic programming or revenue management
- Teaching of one math or optimization class per year
- Supervision of Bachelor or Master theses
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a strong background in Mathematics and a PhD in Operations Research, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
- Solid knowledge of mathematical optimization techniques
- Good knowledge in at least one higher programming language
- Strong motivation for scientific research and teaching
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Successful candidates are reliable and team players
- Advanced English language skills are required
