    Material Handling Capstone Design Competition


    The MHI CICMHE Capstone Design Competition 2021-2022 is now open

     

    Sponsored by the Material Handling Industry (MHI) and College Industry Council on Material Handling

    Education (CICMHE), the purpose of the competition is to recognize outstanding material handling

    applications and encourage student interest in the material handling industry.

     

    Registration: Register on or before April 22, 2022, https://www.mhi.org/cicmhe/competition

    Submission Deadline: Submissions accepted on or before May 20, 2022, at https://www.mhi.org/cicmhe/competition

     

    Eligibility criteria:

    • Project work in the area of Material Handling or Supply Chain.
    • Design project work completed by undergraduate or master's level enrolled students within the 2021-2022 academic year.
    • The project demonstrates design, or application, of material handling principles.
    • Any project completed for course credit, regardless of the format of the course/project, e.g., length, multidisciplinary, size of team, etc.

     

    Submission Details:

    • Submissions must come from a department faculty member, capstone coordinators, or mentors of the project.
    • Up to two submissions accepted from each department.
    • Include the following in the submission package:
      1. Two-page executive summary with team and project information.
        • Team Information
          • Project Title
          • Student team members names and contact information
          • Faculty nominator names and contact information
          • Project sponsor and contact information if applicable
        • Project Information
          • Problem or opportunity statement
          • Objectives
          • Deliverables and outcomes
          • Impact, project success measures
    1. Supporting documentation and evidence of work. Include at least two deliverables required for the student's capstone course, e.g., poster, presentation, report, video.

     

    The evaluation committee of MHI and CICMHE members, from both industry and academia, will judge the submissions based on the following criteria:

    • Project impact and outcome success,
    • Relevance to material handling, and
    • Effective communication of problem, approach, design, and results.

     

    Outstanding submissions will be recognized at the MHI Annual Conference in the Fall of 2022.
