The doctoral program in Operations & Decision Analytics (ODA) at Baruch College, The City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications for admission in Fall 2022.

The ODA PhD program prepares students for academic careers by providing training in operations research (OR) and decision analytics methodologies, as well as foundational skills in mathematics and economics. All admitted students receive guaranteed scholarships that include full tuition and a stipend for 5 years, provided they maintain good academic standing. The program prepares graduates for tenure-track professorial positions at research-first universities, within departments such as operations managementsupply chain managementdecision sciences, and business analytics.

The ODA faculty (https://zicklin.baruch.cuny.edu/subject_matter_expert/operations-management/) conduct research that focuses on operational innovations in healthcare, retail, and services, as well as operations-marketing-economics interface, revenue management and pricing, supply chain management, and behavioral operations. They regularly publish in top journals such as Management ScienceOperations Research, and Manufacturing & Service Operations Management.

Students in the ODA program are co-affiliated with Baruch College, CUNY and the Graduate Center, CUNY (https://www.gc.cuny.edu/Home). Foundational courses in mathematics and economics are offered at the Graduate Center. In addition, the ODA faculty at Baruch College teach a sequence of at least four OR-focused courses (in deterministic and stochastic optimization) and a course in game theory and behavioral operations. In addition to offerings at CUNY, students may take courses at other area universities as part of the NYC-area Inter-University Doctoral Consortium (https://www.gc.cuny.edu/Degrees-Research/Doctoral-Programs/Interuniversity-Doctoral-Consortium). Finally, students interact with leading scholars by participating in the OMEGA Research Seminar Series (https://blogs.baruch.cuny.edu/deltaomega/omega-schedule).

Baruch College and the Graduate Center are centrally located in the borough of Manhattan within New York City, the largest city in the USA and the business capital of the world. In addition to a vibrant community for research and education, students living in NYC enjoy access to world-renowned arts, entertainment, food, and culture.

Current students of the program have previous degrees in operations research, industrial engineering, and applied mathematics. While these backgrounds match program expectations well, we also encourage applications from candidates with prior training in basic sciences, all engineering disciplines, and economics.
