    Position Summary

    The Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at the University of Central Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track position in MIS beginning Fall 2018. This position is responsible for teaching, <g class="gr_ gr_781 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="781" data-gr-id="781">research</g> and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine-month appointment.
    The MIS Department (http://uca.edu/mis) has 12 full-time faculty members which support about 200 students majoring in Information Systems (BS-IS) and MIS (BBA), in three concentrations (Application Development, Networking, and Business Analysis). The department has vibrant relationships with several external employer stakeholders. The department is located within the College of Business (http://uca.edu/business) and occupies a recently constructed 70,000 square foot state-of-the-art building. The College offers thirteen undergraduate degree programs and two programs at the master's level (MAcc and MBA), with typical enrollment in the college averaging approximately 1,600 undergraduates and 140 graduate students. The MBA program offers an Information System concentration, taught solely by MIS faculty.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    The new faculty member will teach a variety of undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Teaching excellence is required to earn tenure, and candidates should have evidence of quality teaching. Potential or demonstrated ability to teach in both face-to-face and online formats is desirable. Tenure-track faculty <g class="gr_ gr_784 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="784" data-gr-id="784">are</g> expected to provide service commensurate with their rank and experience, including advising students. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated ability or potential to produce quality research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    While areas of teaching are open, candidates may be asked to teach statistics, database, programming, security, data analytics and other core MIS classes. There is flexibility as to which courses may be taught.

    Required Education and/or Experience

    Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems (or a closely related field) from an AACSB accredited program. ABDs will be considered provided the candidate is close to degree completion.

    Founded in 1907, UCA has an enrollment of approximately 11,500, of which more than 1,800 are graduate students. The university offers 91 undergraduate and 59 graduate certificate and degree programs, including seven doctoral programs. The student body consistently scores above the national average on the ACT exam. UCA is proud of its tradition of teaching excellence and its contributions in scholarship and creative activities. The campus is widely acclaimed for its beauty. UCA is located in Conway, Arkansas, a thriving city of approximately 65,000 in central Arkansas, and thirty minutes from Little Rock. Conway is home to several major industries, two private colleges, an excellent public school system, and strong private K12 schools. Residents have easy access to the Ouachita and Ozark National forests and pristine wildlife areas near the Buffalo National River.
