The Department of Integrated Systems (ISE) at The Ohio State University, one of the nation's top ten public universities, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level focusing on Cyber-Secure Autonomous Mobility. ISE offers degrees (B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.) in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Its undergraduate and graduate programs are consistently among the top programs ranked by US News and World Report, as the Department has exceptional strength in all major areas associated with the discipline. The position is targeted to provide the college of engineering and university communities with first-class research and teaching on analytical decision making tools to make future cyber-enabled mobility systems/services more secure, efficient, and economic. Prospective candidates should demonstrate strong research expertise in the area of mobility, covering topics that are related to transportation, human mobility, autonomous mobility, physical- and cyber-security in mobility, and mobility analytics. Candidates should have a strong methodological background in any area or operations research. Candidates with interests in (i) Markov decision processes and dynamic programming, (ii) system or stochastic control, (iii) reinforcement learning, and (iv) suitable computer science areas are especially welcome.
The successful candidate is expected to excel at creating and participating in interdisciplinary research teams. He or she will establish a strong research program, attract research funding from federal, state, and industry resources, supervise graduate student research, and disseminate the results of such research through high-quality peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, this faculty member will extend current course offerings in Cyber-Secure Autonomous Mobility at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A Ph.D. in operations research, control engineering, or computer science is highly desired.
