    About Us

    The Multi-Modal Analytics Lab in GE Global Research, Bangalore is dedicated to using statistics, data science, machine learning and operations research methods for developing state-of-the-art algorithms and decision support systems by fusing and processing multiple sources of information (sensor data, physics, weather, text, images, domain knowledge). The expanding group currently has ten members with most having doctorates and/or international experience and with expertise in statistics, machine learning, reliability and operations research.

     Role Summary/Purpose

    Highly motivated self-driven researcher in Statistics / Machine Learning / Operations Research / signal processing / data science to be part of multi-disciplinary project teams addressing key challenges for different GE businesses.

    Essential Responsibilities

    As a researcher in the Multi-Modal Analytics lab, you will research and build scalable differentiated algorithms from heterogeneous data such as time series data from sensors, physics models, weather data, text, images etc. Connect with GE business and customers to understand their requirements and develop analytics technology based solutions to meet their needs. Develop advanced algorithms and methods to support Industrial Internet solutions for our customers. Typical applications include asset performance management, forecasting, early warning systems, diagnostics, prognostics, resource scheduling and operations optimization.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Statistics / Machine Learning / Computer Science / Operations Research or a relevant mathematical or quantitative discipline with an excellent academic record. Should have deep knowledge of analytics, probability, applied statistics and data sciences with practical experience in applying the techniques for solving industrial problems.  Strong programming skills in Python / R / Java is a must. Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills is a must

    Desired Characteristics

    • A track record in published research would be viewed favorably.
    • Open to learning new domains
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Programming skills in Java / R / Python
    • Familiarity with large data sets, cloud based development and deployment, open source practices and frameworks
    • Experience in putting analytics algorithms in production are desirable
