Special Issue: "Optimization in Electric Power Distribution Systems"
In the recent years the distribution systems from the substations to the customers are facing significant changes, due to the growing number of distributed and variable energy generation resources and the smart grid implementation. The abilities to dynamically optimize the operation, integrate diverse distributed generation types, and integrate demand response and energy-efficiency resources are needed in this modern power system era. This special issue is intended to promote the research in Optimization in Electric Power Distribution Systems, focusing on optimal expansion and operation planning issues. We invite all members of the community to submit a paper.
Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to:
(1) Distribution systems modelling in optimization problems,
(2) Operation planning,
(3) Expansion planning,
(4) Optimal Volt/var control,
(5) Optimizing the integration of renewable energy sources, storage devices, and electric-vehicle charging stations,
(6) Deterministic and stochastic models for the energy management,
(7) Operation and expansion planning in a smart grid scenario.
All submissions will be reviewed according to the standards of Energy Systems. Note that Energy Systems also accepts review papers. Please use Springer's LaTeX macro package and choose the formatting option “smallextended”. Authors should submit their manuscripts via the Energy Systems online submission system selecting as article type "SI:Distr".

Notification of the first review of the manuscript: June 30th, 2017
