    New faculty members face a number of challenges as they begin their career in higher education.  From the tenure process, to sponsored research, to strategies for effective teaching, new faculty can benefit from the experience of seasoned faculty and administrators. 

    The New Faculty Colloquium is intended for professionals who are in their first three years of being a faculty member. Confirmed speakers include, in alphabetical order:

    • Damian Beil, Associate Professor of Technology and Operations at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan

    • Shane Henderson, Professor, School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University
    • Julie Higle, Professor and Chair, Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at the University of Southern California
    • Sheldon Jacobson, Professor in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
    • Eva Lee, Professor, H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology
    • Ozalp Ozer, Ashbel Smith Professor of Management Science, Jindal School of Management, University of Texas at Dallas

    This colloquium is one of three offered by INFORMS; others include the Teaching Effectiveness Colloquium and Doctoral Student Colloquium. All will be held in Nashville, TN on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12, prior to the INFORMS Annual Meeting. The colloquia will begin on Friday evening with a welcome dinner for all participants and will continue all day Saturday with informative sessions, good food, and plenty of time to socialize and network. All colloquia participants must also register for the INFORMS Annual Meeting. The cost is $80 for students, $200 for all others.
