    Dear Colleagues,

Here is a call for papers from IIE Transactions for your reference. We look forward to your submissions!

    CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue on Energy Systems Modeling and Analytics
IIE Transactions – Focused Issue on Operations Engineering and Analytics

Purpose: The energy sector is one of the largest industrial sectors in the United States. It is comprised of industries such as petroleum, natural gas, electric power, coal, nuclear power, and renewable energy. Industrial engineers are involved in all aspects of the energy sector including oil drilling and refining, gas pipeline transportation and storage, power/heat generation and transmission, and gas/electricity markets. The primary objectives are improving operational efficiency and system reliability throughout the energy supply chain. Energy systems have expanded rapidly and are undergoing significant transformation including new design and service philosophies, and new incentives and business models due to low oil prices, renewable generation, and the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs). Accordingly, there are emerging issues to be addressed for energy systems in various scales from multinational and national scales all the way to community scale and building level. The purpose of this issue is to create a repository of cutting edge industrial engineering research with strong methodological focus addressing different aspects of emerging problems in the energy transformation process.

Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to:
    (1) Oil and Gas Production and Operations
    (2) Power System Operations and Planning
    (3) Operations and Maintenance for Renewable Energy Generation
    (4) Gas/Electricity Market Operations and Analytics
    (5) Building Efficiency including Integrating EVs and Demand Response Analytics
    (6) Industrial Energy Efficiency including Net-Zero Energy Facilities
    (7) Integration of Renewable Energy and Storage in Energy Portfolio
    (8) Water-Energy Nexus: Strategic Policies and Operational Decisions

This special issue is intended to promote the research in Energy System Modeling and Analytics in the Industrial and Systems Engineering domain. We believe this will benefit both theoreticians and practitioners. We invite all members of the community to submit a paper.

    Review Process
The submissions will be reviewed in accordance with the standard IIE Transactions procedures.

    Submission Process
Authors should submit their paper to the special issue through the online manuscript submission and tracking system, Scholar One's Manuscript Central, at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/iietransactions. Please follow the instructions carefully.  When queried, be sure to indicate the paper is being submitted to a Special Issue on Step 1, select Yongpei Guan as the Recommend Editor on Step 4, and identify the special issue name as Energy Systems Modeling and Analytics on Step 5.

    Important Dates
Manuscript submission deadline: January 1, 2017 (Early submissions are strongly encouraged)
Notification of the first review of the manuscript: April 1, 2017
Final revisions due: October 1, 2017
