    Dear All,

We are getting excited about the upcoming Industry Studies Association Conference May 24-26 in Minneapolis.

The Conference will be preceded by a Professional Development Workshop (PDW), for early career industry studies scholars, on May 24, 2016. The PDW is intended to support early-career scholars engaged in industry studies research by providing career-related advice and the opportunity to form a network of junior and senior colleagues.

We would like to encourage you, or interested advanced PhD students and post-docs (even if they do not have a paper accepted into the conference) to attend the PDW.

The deadline to sign up for the PDW has been extended to April 29, 2016. Priority will be given to participants who register early.

Each paper in the PDW will be assigned to at least two faculty discussants. Our faculty discussants include:

    • Matthew Bidwell, University of Pennsylvania
    • John Cantwell, Rutgers University
    • Nicole DeHoratius, University of Chicago
    • Virginia Doellgast, Cornell University
    • Jody Hoffer Gittell, Brandeis University
    • Susan Mudambi, Temple University
    • K.K. Sinha, University of Minnesota

You or your students and post-docs can register for the PDW on the Conference webpage at (https://www.industrystudiesconference.org/registration) as part of the general conference registration.

Limited financial support for PDW participants is available on a need basis.

Please do not hesitate to contact any of the PDW co-chairs if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you in Minneapolis!

    Sincerely,

    PDW Co-Chairs

About the Professional Development Workshop (PDW) - May 24, 2016

The Early Career Development Committee of the Industry Studies Association is pleased to announce the 2016 Professional Development Workshop (PDW) for early career industry studies scholars. It will take place Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the University of St. Thomas. The PDW is held in conjunction with the 2016 Industry Studies Conference.

The PDW is intended to support early-career scholars engaged in industry studies research by providing career-related advice and the opportunity to form a network of junior and senior colleagues. Faculty development is a core component of the mission of the Industry Studies Association. In addition, the PDW brings together scholars across the wide range of disciplines and industries represented by the ISA, enabling greater interdisciplinary collaboration. "Early career" refers to a scholar who has completed a doctoral dissertation but is not yet tenured. Advanced level PhD students are also encouraged to attend.

The PDW is a small setting where junior faculty and advanced doctoral students can meet with more senior faculty in an informal setting. The PDW program includes a "Publishing Industry Studies Research" panel that includes a mix of editors and researchers who have published leading industry studies work. In addition, it includes a paper development workshop where PDW participants, working in facilitated round tables, will have the opportunity to give and receive feedback on a working paper.
