CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR 2016 SETH BONDER SCHOLARSHIP IN APPLIED HEALTH SERVICES

INFORMS Health Applications Society (HAS) is seeking nominations/applications for the 2016 Bonder Scholarship for Applied Operations Research in Health Services. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote the development and application of process modeling and operations research analyses to health care design, delivery and operations by identifying young and promising researchers during their doctoral studies.

The scholarship offers a research fund of $4,000, and the opportunity to apply for an additional support of $1,000 to cover expenses that will be incurred during the winner’s travel to 2016 INFORMS Annual Conference. Starting with the year after the award is won; the winner also becomes eligible to apply for further travel and research awards that are annually offered by Seth Bonder Research Foundation exclusively to former Bonder Scholars. Last but not least, INFORMS Annual Meetings host designated “Bonder Scholars” sessions that showcase the completed or ongoing research conducted by Bonder Scholars and their collaborators, and Bonder Scholars find the privilege to speak and disseminate their research in these sessions.

Please encourage your advisees and other qualified individuals in your network who are building creative work with strong academic rigor and/or practical relevance at the crossroads of operations research/operations management and healthcare to apply for Bonder Scholarship. Applications are due by June 10, 2016, (midnight Pacific Standard Time) and must consist of the following documents:

    • A detailed curriculum vitae of the applicant
    • Two letters of support one of which is expected to be from the applicant’s main academic advisor and this letter should include a statement that the applicant has completed one academic year but no more than three academic years in any doctoral program.
