SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

You’ll join a team of experts in information systems and technical services that excel at strategic and real-time deployment planning, focused on improving security and responsiveness in public safety operations. Our clients are in the United States and Canada and include such first responders as New York City Fire Department (FDNY), Dallas Fire & Rescue, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Position Description:
In this position, you will be involved in developing part of our web applications, i.e., back-end engine supporting a database, as well as front-end thin client browser-based GUIs. You should be able to extend and support our current code that interfaces via a variety of mechanisms such as TCP/IP, WCF and third party API, along with formats such as XML, JSON and fixed format strings. You will also troubleshoot/fix issues related to database connections, as well as correct queries and code for connections to new client databases (which could be of any type). You might find yourself migrating existing standalone Windows-based server application to client/server web application in C#. You do not need to be an expert on specific RDBMS like Oracle or SQL Server, but you should be able to figure out how to connect to them and do needed queries.
Essential Functions:
- Design systems and functionality to integrate with the existing Deccan SaaS product.
- Implement and test components.
- Work with development teams and clients to ensure that the integration of Deccan applications into the SaaS platform is effective and works well.
- Constantly look for ways to improve the existing products to make them more effective and reliable
- Triage, analyze and resolve escalated issues from customers and project managers.
- Develop code according to company standards and quality processes.
- Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Product Development as a dynamic part of project teams to deliver quality product releases
Desired Skills and Experience
- Degree in Computer Science/Engineering (Bachelors required; Masters preferred)
- Object oriented programming
- Well-rounded .NET developer experience
- Web experience both on server side and client side in Microsoft (ASP.NET and MVC)
- Experience in creating a web application from scratch
- Experience in ArcGIS server API desired
- Experience with the following preferred:
- C++, C#
- Web client-side programming: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Dojo, jQuery, etc...)
- web server-side programming: C# .NET Web Services, WCF, Web API, WebSockets
- Setup preparation
- Esri Web API’s and Desktop SDK’s
- Database using C#
