Dear Colleagues:
As editor-in-chief, I write to share an interesting finding about the authorship profile of my journal Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (M&SOM): M&SOM is embraced by top operations management (OM) researchers from the top business schools around the world!
Established in 1999, M&SOM is published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences(INFORMS), the largest association in the world for professionals in the field of operations research, management science, and analytics. M&SOM is proud to be part of INFORMS’ portfolio of leading management research journals, including Management Science, Marketing Science, Organization Science, Information Systems Research, among others. M&SOM is the preferred outlet for OM research articles that are innovative, rigorous, and relevant.
Using the UT Dallas Research Ranking database, I have examined profiles of the authors who published their OM research articles in M&SOM from its establishment in 1999 through 2014 and benchmarked it against the profile of the authors who published in Management Science (a top multidisciplinary management research journal) and Marketing Science (a top marketing research journal). From all articles published in these three top research journals between 1999 and 2014, my study yields two key findings (see figures below):
- Over 50% of the authors who published their OM research articles in M&SOM are affiliated with the top 50 business schools as ranked by Business Week (BW) and Financial Times (FT) MBA rankings in 2013.
- The affiliations of the authors who published in M&SOM exhibit the same profile as Management Science andMarketing Science.
These two key findings revealed one fact: M&SOM is embraced by top OM researchers from the top business schools around the world!
