1-Year Postdoctoral Position in Environmental Decision Analysis with the Possibility of a 2nd Year Extension
to conduct research that improves decision making in real-world environmental contexts without compromising on scientific rigor. We are looking for candidates with an interest and competencies in one or several of the following topics of multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA): how to deal with uncertainty in decision making (scenario planning, adaptive management, robustness); developing (generalizable) objectives hierarchies; visualization (of inputs, model outputs, sensitivities); and flexible or interactive procedures for preference elicitation from stakeholders.
The candidate should have a strong scientific background in MCDA, the willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration with other research departments at Eawag (see http://www.eawag.ch/about/organisation/orgchart/index_EN), and an interest in practice application. Empirically, the research will focus on the sustainable management of water resources, either following a natural-science perspective (ecosystem services), or an engineering perspective (sustainable urban water management).
The postdoc project is carried out in collaboration with Prof. Valerie Belton from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK (http://www.strath.ac.uk/mansci/staff/beltonvalprof/), and will be set up during her sabbatical at Eawag.
