Our clients are in the United States and Canada and include such first responders as New York City Fire Department (FDNY), Dallas Fire & Rescue, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Position Description:
Deccan’s Operations Research Developer will enhance current applications for public safety as well as to develop new products. This hands-on job will involve close collaboration with other software developer staff and analysts who configure the applications for clients, and project managers who directly interact with clients and understand their needs. The products span the range from strategic planning logistical applications requiring programming, challenging regression, optimization, and Monte Carlo simulation models, to real time applications requiring fast optimizations. Some models need to be enhanced while others have to be developed from scratch.
Basic Qualifications:
- A MS degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science with a minimum of 2 years of systems engineering experience required.
- Ability to program in programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, etc. needed
- Substantial background in algorithm design and developing heuristics a must
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Desire and ability to learn and understand the dynamics and culture with public safety response operations, including how calls for emergency medical services are classified, how various emergency response apparatus are dispatched to them, and how field personnel handle the emergencies and other responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. degree in an Engineering discipline, Physics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or Computer Science with 0-2 years of systems engineering experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications in Access and Project is preferred.
